HOCKEY CARD REPORT - February, 2000

Because of the damage done to the card collecting market by the card manufacturers themselves, I stopped issueing these reports. This is an archive of some of the Hockey Card Collecting Reports I once did.

This is a sampling of Hockey Card purchases from Baseball Card Shows in northeast US.

I really like the high number cards in this 95/96 TSC set.

The Ultra Rookies are pretty nice looking cards!
I remember those packs of Ultra Hockey cards selling for about $2.00 a piece...
Geez, and these were the Inserts!
So if you collect Hockey inserts, I guess it don't pay to buy packs!

His prices are a little higher than most, but he is the only dealer with Scott Gomez Cards.
He says "They sell as soon as I put them out on display!"
I always buy something from him, I figure he is also a hockey collector himself.

I like the "bobbing Heads", they look pretty cool!
The Cameron Mann card is interesting, It shows him holding his nose because of the smell coming out of his skates!

The Danny Grant was marked $6.00, and the Gilbert Perreault marked $15.00...
The Dealer said 50% off! So I got em both for $10.00!
These two are a tough call! But I'm a collector! I liked em, I bought em!


  

 "I have seen it like this before...." 
The larger of the shows, naturally had the best deals!  

There was a frenzy of baseball card action going on. And even though
this was the middle of winter, it seemed like nobody wanted to deal with 
Hockey cards.

"I have seen it like this before!"

Back in the early 80s, Topps stopped marketing Hockey cards for a few 
years. When they started up again in 1984, the dealers bought them but 
couldn't sell them! They were stuck with boxes of cards.
 
So when the 1985 Hockey cards came out, many of the dealers practically 
gave their wax boxes away for cost!  

"That was the year of the Mario Lemieux Rookie card!"

Many of the older cards started coming out of the woodwork and could be
picked up for some pretty good prices!

Not trusting the Hockey market, dealers wanted to sell all their Hockey 
cards so they could re-invest in more Baseball cards!

This same thing could be happening now!

I know, many dealers have told me that they just can't sell any of the
Pacific stuff. They say most collectors just don't want it! 

"That alone has to have an effect!"

I beleave we could see some great bargains out there!

Keep a sharp eye out, a few of those great old timers could show up!
Real cheap!
