9540 - 1640 UTC - BBC, Singapore - (Bengali) - sio:353-453 - Tuned in to strong signal on 31 meters, with a man talking in a South Asian sounding language. Then a woman talked, interviewing someone over the phone. Heard frequent mentions of "Bangladesh" and "Bangladeshi" and "Bharat" (the last being South Asian name for India). Also heard a mention of Fiji (many Indian people there). As the BBC was transmitting out of Kranji, Singapore, I must have heard them off the back of the array. - (Grundig G2, whip antenna - WA - US - Feb 22, 2017)

9865 - 1613 UTC - AIR India Vividh Bharati, India - (Hindustani) - sio:253-353 - Tuned in to South Asian movie music, with snippets of talk in what sounded like Hindustani by a man. The signal was S2 to S3, with fast fading --the signal would be coming over the pole to reach the NW US. After a bit, the man was talking and playing minute long snippets of movie music, and then he played entire pieces again. By 1636 UTC, the signal began to degrade to SIO152-252, with deep, fast fades. Always nice to hear India -- used to have to hear it in back of China during openings to NE Asia on 31 meters. - (Grundig G2, whip antenna - WA - US - Feb 22, 2017)

6060 - 0402 - Radio Habana Cuba (tentative), Cuba - (Spanish) - sio:151-2 - Very weak news report in def. Spanish by man and woman, with one mention of Buenos Aires. Probably Radio Habana Cuba, who broadcast to Eastern North America this frequency and timeslot. - (Realistic DX-398, 25 ft. wire - WA-USA - 5/22/2013)
chris (64.40.54.169) - May 22 05:32

9515 - 0300 - Voice Of Turkey, Turkey - (English) - sio:252-3 - Tuned in to 9515 khz at 0259 UTC to hear an Arabic sounding riff on a piano, repeated like an interval signal. Then heard several IDs by a woman in English: "This is the Voice Of Turkey". There was a high noise level and the signal was weak, with fading. Reception was unfortunately too grainy to listen to it. Station was off air, or faded out by recheck of frequency at 0332 UTC. - (Realistic DX-398, 25 ft. wire - WA-USA - 5/22/2013)

Taiwan), Taiwan / France ??? - (Spanish) - sio:354 - Woman talking non-stop for over ten minutes in accented Spanish about equipos, Estados Unidos, trabajo, Fortaleza, Sao Paulo, Londres, grupos, pelotas, etc. Probably Radio Taiwan's broadcast to Latin America from France. Didn't hear an ID, didn't stay tuned long enough to hear one.... - (Realistic DX-398, 25 ft. wire - WA-USA - 5/16/2013)

11780 - 0214 - Radio Nacional Da Amazonia, Brazil - (Portuguese) - sio:355 - Football play-by-play in Portuguese by two men, with periodic sound effects, and several mentions of Portugal. During re-check at 0257 heard what sounded like an interview with a player. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of breath it takes for these guys to do a play by play in Brazilian Portuguese. - (Realistic DX-398, 25 ft. wire - WA-USA - 5/16/2013)
chris (64.40.54.31) - May 16 08:32

11815 - 0217 - Radio Brasil Central, Brazil - (Portuguese) - sio:152-3 - Tuned in to a football play-by-play in Portuguese by two men, including sound effects (presumably after goals or saves). Weak reception, strengthened slightly by 0257, signal became more steady & readable. There also was football play by play on Radio Nacional Da Amazonia on 11780 -- the broadcasts were not parallel. Radio Brasil Central in Goiania is the only PP stn listed this timeslot & frequency. - (Realistic DX-398, 25 ft. wire - WA-USA - 5/16/2013)
chris (64.40.54.31) - May 16 08:28

11765 - 0602 - Radio Tupi / Super Deus E Amor (tentative), Brazil - (Portuguese) - sio:253 - Brazilian style announcer, with excerpts of programming, in Portuguese, with mention of a website ("www....ponta", fade during middle of announcement) and a woman talking to a man, mentioning Sao Paulo. Also heard two folk style songs, similar to what you can hear on Radio Nacional Da Amazonia -- a couple people singing, guitars and accordion. Reception was weak, with frequent fades -- just readable. The only Brazilian station listed this timeslot is Radio Super Deus E Amor, in Curitiba. Unfortunately, like last time I heard this station, never could catch a positive ID.. - (Realistic DX-398, 25 ft. wire - WA-USA - 5/15/2013)

9645 - 0308 - Radio Romania International, Romania - (English) - sio:443-4 - Tuned in to the end of R. Romania's "Weekend Review" program, incl. talk of a Bucharest football champion. Reception was a bit fluttery. ID at 0312 UTC. Into the program "World Of Culture" introduced by a woman. - (JCP Multiband AM-FM-SW radio, 25 ft. wire - WA-USA - 5/12/2013)

9420 - 0319 - Voice Of Greece (tentative), Greece - (UNID, prob. Greek) - sio:354 - Tuned into what sounded like Middle Eastern music, with Arab style singing. Heard what sounded like a man speaking something related to Spanish but with different consonant sounds (grainy reception didn't help much). The signal strengthened just before tuneout (during a folk song with two men, violin & guitars), to SIO 354 at 0330. Voice Of Greece is the only suitable broadcast this frequency and time slot, and the music matches much of what they play. - (JCP Multiband AM-FM-SW radio, 25 ft. wire - WA-USA - 5/12/2013)
chris (64.40.54.111) - May 12 10:04

15355 - 2314 - Radio Veritas Asia (tentative), Philippines - (Tagalog) - sio:454 - Woman talking in seemed to be Tagalog with some Spanish words and English phrases -- the talk seemed to be about working in the U.S. or overseas. There were numerous English words like "immigration", "tourist visa", "working visa", "employment agency" interspersed with what clearly sounded like Tagalog or a similar Malay language. The woman was talking to another woman who said very little. Station was off air during re-check at 2330 UTC. One online schedule lists Radio Veritas Asia in Tagalog at this frequency and time slot. - (Realistic DX-440, 25 ft. wire - WA-USA - 5/5/2013)

11520 - 1618 utc - Radio Farda, US / Sri Lanka - (Farsi) - sio:455 - Heard speech in what sounded like S. Asian or C. Asian language, along with interesting music that sounded like a cross between Greek and Russian pop, with Middle Eastern instruments thrown in. Heard several "Radio Farda" IDs at 1631, 1643, and 1659 UTC. The station is slickly programmed. There were what sounded like news reports with mentions of "Islami" and "Ahmenijad". Some of the songs played were very cool, including what probably was an Iranian alt-rock track. The signal was SIO354 when I tuned in, and peaked at SIO455 at 1700 UTC, and weakened in strength to SIO353 by tuneout at 1748 UTC. - (Panasonic RFB-45, 25 ft. wire - WA-USA - 10/3/2012)
