9680 - 1417 utc - Radio Republik Indonesia (tentative), Indonesia - (Indonesian) - sio:335 - Man talking to another man on phone, in a Malay language. The announcer had a great radio voice. Then he talked to a difference guy on the phone, who had a tinny sounding phone. Indonesia listed this time and frequency. There was another station behind RRI but that station was unreadable. 6160 - 0601 utc - CKZN, Canada / NFLD - (English) - sio:112 or 102 - Was listening to CKZU / CBC British Columbia and heard what sounded like the same programming, time shifted. At the top of the hour I heard a man say "CBC Radio ________" underneath CKZU's CBC programming. After the top of the hour, both stations had the same CBC Radio News, only there was a delay of a quarter second or so. A first logging for me, 3100 miles at 500 watts, isn't bad. Just before 0300 there was an interval signal that sounded a bit like a snippet of Ravel or a similar composer on pianos and strings, then ID at the top of the hour (I missed several of the words in the ID because of fluttery fading). The signal went up from SIO153 at 1949 to SIO254 at 2010. 7290 - 0058 utc - Voice Of Russia W.S., Russia / Moldova? - (English) - sio:334 - Noticed very weak piano music at 0017 utc, with polar like quick fading. Was parallel to 7250 (which had heavy QRM from hams). The two freq's were the only broadcasters on the 41 meter band I could hear. As the hour progressed, the signals, esp. on 7290, strengthened. There was a woman speaking English, with snippets of a man speaking Russian, and then more classical piano mx. Signal strengthened by ID (in English) at 0100, and then news in English. At 1705 there was a relay of the "China Drive" program, which is apparently broadcast on local Beijing FM radio 91.5. The program featured talk by man and woman (he spoke with an American accent, she spoke with a slight British accent, and also talked in Chinese), and a feature on Simon & Garfunkel, with a musical interlude on keyboards. IDed as "the Sunday edition of China Drive on ___ FM". Aprupt sign off at 1757 utc after a snippet of Let's Learn Chinese. Var mx from general rock and pop, but also var polka or schlager. Reception reports, greetings and pirate radio news read out by announcer between mx. Also includes pirate radio advertisements.
