Someone on the list sent me some information Friday regarding ALE decoding and
the different types of protocols used....but of course I've lost the email now.

Could that person please re-send.....

Just for the list's reference, he passed this link which was very interesting:

This is an ALE sound card decoder for the 2FSK type ALE that sounds like a
"turkey gobble" Interesting stuff.... Now we need some development activities
around the Harris 4FSK ALE that FEMA and the US Customs Svc uses. Anyone...?

What is a "slow" ALE versus a "fast" ALE? Does any one have a way of demoding either one? The "slow" ALE is the type that sounds something like fast dripping water....it is a distinctive sound. The "fast" type is the ALE that the US Custom COTHEN Network uses. I don't know what the official names of the ALE protocols are...I just call'em fast/slow. -Lb --- "Steven H Sawyers (n0yvy)" wrote: > What is a "slow" ALE versus a "fast" ALE? > > Does any one have a way of demoding either one? > > Steve > > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? In other news, it sure sounds like McClellan GHFS is getting its new radios. They're testing on 8992, and on 11175 they appear to have a choice of transmitters, the new one being way, way louder in Los Angeles, not to mention just more solid and authoritative sounding. -hugh driver8 Hugh Stegman NV6H rfwatts@primenet.com 34N 118.5W UTC-8/7 Monitoring Times Utility World Monitoring Times Utility World In God we trust, everyone else we monitor. --- The Worldwide UTE News (WUN) mailing list. Yes, Someone was kind enough to email me a copy of the sound ALE makes. ALE stands for Automatic Link Establishment, this is a transmission mode that has a very distinctive sound when liistened to in USB and there's little chance of mistaking it for anything else. It is used extensively by the US military, but its use is not confined to the military, as Jack has noted it apparently in use by the FBI, and I believe it has been noted by others being used in FEMA nets. 73 DE John, KNY2VS (NYSING-33, WUN, MilCom) radiomonitors-owner@onelist.com IRCNet: #monitor #nysing #airband #milcom #wun DX-394/ATS-803a/PRO-2045/PRO-50/PRO-2026/BC210/INF-10 Monitoring near Niagara Falls, NY (43.02N-78.88W) --- The Worldwide UTE News (WUN) mailing list.
